Sodium Metabisulfite

Sodium Metabisulfite is primarily used in food applications as a preservative (dehydrated foods, shrimps, meat etc.), anti-browning/bleaching, anti-fermentation, and reducing agent. In Photo applications as a production of developer solution and acidizing fixation baths. Main technical applications include water-treatment to remove chlorine, detoxification of chromic acid in electroplating, pulp and paper for de-lignification, bleaching agent for textiles, and oxygen scavenger.
