Ethylene Glycol
Ethylene glycol is a colorless, odorless liquid that is miscible in water. It is a stable under ordinary conditions though it is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, reacts violently to chlorosulfonic acid, oleum, sulfuric acid and perchloric acid. When heated to decomposition it may produce acrid smoke and irritating fumes and may form carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. Uses: As a coolant, deicer, hydrate inhibition, in manufacturing polyester fibers and resins, in manufacturing capacitors, in geothermal heating/cooling systems, and as an intermediary in laboratory use.
