SEATTLE, Wash. May 28th – TRInternational, Inc. (TRI Chemicals) welcomed Rep. Dave Reichert (R-WA) to our Seattle headquarters to discuss safe chemical distribution through mandatory third-party verification environmental, health, safety, and security programs like NACD Responsible Distribution® with the National Association of Chemical Distributors’ (NACD) and the reinstatement of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) and it’s economic impact on TRI and the WA state economy.
“We were honored to have Congressman Reichert at our facility today,” said company CEO Anthony Ridnell. “It is critical that our policymakers understand how chemical distribution works and the positive economic impact distributors generate in their local communities and across the nation. We hope to put more people to work in Washington state, and we need national policies that enable us to do that.”
TRI welcomed Congressman Reichert to meet all of our staff and held a formal meeting that included TRI’s General Manager and General Council, Megan E. Gluth-Bohan, Esq., TRI’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Jeffrey B. Wright and the NACD’s Director, Legislative Affairs, Laura Chambers. The meeting focused on key policy issues important to the company and the chemical distribution industry as a whole. “The conversation centered on reforming the tax code to help small businesses create more jobs, renewing the U.S. Generalized System of Preferences program that expired in 2013, modernizing the nearly 40-year-old Toxic Substances Control Act to update chemical safety and management policies, and reforming the Surface Transportation Board to make the regulatory body operate more efficiently and effectively, states the NACD in their press release.
“It was a pleasure meeting with the TRInternational family and learning about their efforts to keep the Seattle area safe through Responsible Distribution,” said Rep. Reichert, who sits on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means. “I will continue to work in Congress to establish commonsense policies that create a safe, secure, and thriving environment for our businesses and our communities here in the great state of Washington.”
