Zinc Oxide usually appears as a white powder that is nearly insoluble in water. It is an inorganic compound. Zinc oxide may be used as an additive in a number of materials and products and can be used in numerous applications. Uses: As an additive in plastics, ceramics, glass, cement, rubber, lubricants, paints, ointments, adhesives, sealants, pigments, foods, batteries, ferrites, fire retardants, and in rubber manufacture, the concrete industry, medicine, cigarette filters, a food additive, pigment, coatings, and as a corrosion preventor in nuclear reactors.
