Furfural

Furfuryl is a colorless oily liquid in its pure state with an odor of almonds, but quickly becomes yellow with exposure to air. It is derived from a number of agricultural byproducts including corncobs, oat and wheat bran, and sawdust. Uses: A solvent in petrochemical refining, a derivative of furfural alcohol, and as a chemical intermediate in the production of furan, tetrahydrofuran. CAS# (98-01-1)
